Jericho Turnpike Eyesore Razed

Property next to Commack Animal Hospital now open to new lessee.

No longer an eyesore, the abandoned yellow house on 4005 Jericho Turnpike in East Northport was razed a few months ago to make way for a new lessee.

The 4.02 acre elongated rectangular property is zoned C-6 by the Town of Huntington. More about what is allowed under the code can be found here.

The property is currently listed with Kimco Realty. Josh Weinkranz, Kimco North East Region Vice President, said his company tore down the dilapidated building in response to requests and to improve its appearance in the community.

He said his company would like to see a retail business at the front end of the plot, such as a bank or restaurant with a drive-through. Another building can be built on the back end. Weinkranz said there is interest in the plot and they are waiting for the right tenant before they build.

The property was previously the site of Eddy's Trailer Sales. The yellow house, used as an office, was left abandoned for years and fell into a visible state of neglect.
