This Weekend at The Huntington Summer Arts Festival

Jazz, Big Band and more.

The Huntington Arts Festival lineup this weekend includes plenty of live music at the Chapin Rainbow Stage in Heckscher Park on Main Street and Prime Avenue. Shows begin at 8:30 p.m.

Here's this weekend's lineup:

Friday: Chameleon, featuring Harvey Mason, Jimmy Haslip, Patrice Rushen, Bill Summer and Azar Lawrence. The band covers the gamut from smooth jazz to orchestral arrangements.

Saturday: Vijay Iyer Trio. The Grammy-nominated composer-pianist Iyer has been dubbed by the Los Angeles Weekly as “a boundless and deeply important young star,” and scored a number of jazz awards.  

Sunday: Swingtime Big Band. The 20-piece band specializes in original arrangements of Big Band classics from the Great American Songbook, including those from Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Harry James, Woody Herman, Les Brown, Charlie Barnet and Stan Kenton. Opening act Janine Dinatale performs at 8 p.m.
