Jen Chapin Performing in Northport

Daughter of Harry Chapin, made most famous for his hit, "Cats in the Cradle," will perform at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Jen Chapin, whose father, the iconic Harry Chapin, penned the hit "Cats in the Cradle" in collaboration with her mother, Sandy, will be performing at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Northport Dec. 20 during an Open Mic night, starting at 8 p.m.

While her family roots have paved the way for Chapin’s musical endeavors, her talent and distinctive blend of urban folk, jazz and pop style have made her a blossoming star. She has performed on stage with Bruce Springsteen, on bills with Bruce Hornsby, Smokey Robinson, and The Neville Brothers, to name a few, and her rendition of Van Morrison's "Into The Mystic" was recently featured in an episode of the SyFy original TV series "Defiance."

Her latest release, Reckoning, produced and engineered by five-time Grammy Award-Winner Kevin Killen (U2, Elvis Costello, Kate Bush) is receiving raves, drawing comparisons to Ani DiFranco, Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon.

Chapin will perform her critically acclaimed new album, Reckoning, at St. Paul's Methodist Church (270 Main St., Northport) Dec. 20 during a musical event presented by the Northport Arts Coalition.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling 631-663-3038.
