A lecture on the history of Victorian spiritualism as well as a re-enactment of a séance is on the table Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Conklin House Museum as the Huntington Historical Society hosts “A Journey into the Beyond.”
Join Michael Goudket, a museum educator at Raynham Hall Museum in Oyster Bay, for a lecture on the history of Victorian Spiritualism and a re-enactment of a 19th century séance. He will examine the history of the Spiritualist faith, famous hoaxes, and real spiritualist artifacts of the time. At the conclusion of the evening there will be divination with crystal ball, tarot cards, and a re-enactment of a séance.
The evening starts with refreshments at 7 p.m. and the lecture at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for Huntington Historical Society members; $12 for non-members.
What better place than the Conklin Barn, which could well be haunted on Oct. 9? It’s nearly Halloween – feel free to dress in black, enjoy delicious sweets and join the fun! Reservations required – call 631-427-7045, ext. 403
