Howl-Ween: Corky’s Canine Costume Parade

The 5th annual Howl-Ween: Corky’s Canine Costume Parade and Celebration will be held on Oct. 29 (rain date: Oct. 30) from 1-5 p.m. on Main Street in Cold Spring Harbor.

The celebration, produced by Nightingale PR, features a street sale, live music and the most elaborate canine costume parade on Long Island, which will begin at 1 p.m. at the corner of Spring St. and Main St. (25A). Spectators will line the street and, for a few minutes, Main Street will be transformed to a “cat walk” where canines will model their finest costumes as they march to the tune: “Who Let the Dogs Out.” There is a suggested donation of $10 per parade entry with a percentage of proceeds to be donated to support “rescue dogs and dogs that rescue." This year’s event is being held in memory of Corky Nightingale, the adorable Westy who served as Parade Grand Marshal and was the inspiration for this very special annual celebration.

The parade will end at Cold Spring Harbor Park where the canine celebrities will be warmly greeted by “pup-parazzi” and have a chance to enjoy live music and fun activities throughout the afternoon. In addition, Cold Spring Harbor Village will be declared “Corky’s Canine Friendly Town” for the day and canines and their owners will be welcomed with open paws to browse the shops and experience the beauty of this charming village. Another highlight of the afternoon will be the first annual “Corky’s Hot Dog Eating Contest” sponsored by the Cold Spring Harbor Deli, which will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the park.
