HUNTINGTON

Juno nominees and winners of the 2010 Canadian Folk Music Award for Vocal Group of the Year, Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine of Dala write and sing in harmony best described as angelic. Drawing upon influences like The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Bob Dylan, Dala write songs that are both catchy and insightful. Amanda’s ethereal soprano voice blends seamlessly with Sheila’s velvety alto, creating the lush harmonies that have become their trademark. Heckscher Park, Huntington 8:30 p.m. Friday

Monty Python's Spamalot - Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy, Spamalot is a new musical telling the legendary tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Featuring a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French people, this is a “no-holds-barred smash hit.” Join us for the show that “raises silliness to an art form.” Heckscher Park, Huntington 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

2012 Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award recipient and 2012 USA Ford Fellow, Kyle Abraham was born into Hip Hop culture in the late 70’s and raised with an artistic upbringing that included classical cello, piano and the visual arts. Abraham approaches movement as a way to deeply delve into identity as it relates to personal history. His work entwines a sensual and provocative vocabulary with a strong emphasis on sound, human behavior and all things visual. “Pavement” is an intensely felt and deeply moving investigation into Abraham’s experiences growing up in Pittsburgh’s historically black neighborhoods. This extended work creates a strong emotional chronology of a culture conflicted with a history plagued by discrimination, genocide, and a constant quest for a lottery ticket weighted in freedom. Recommended for Adult Audiences (16 years and older)  Heckscher Park, Huntington. Sunday, 8:30 p.m.

The Long Island Musical Theater Festival will be presenting The Secret Garden on Friday at 7:30 and Saturday at 2 and 7:30. Performances will be done with a full professional orchestra and take place at Walt Whitman High School in South Huntington. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
