Art in the Park Features Northport Talent [VIDEO]

Paintings of local icons and landscapes seemed all the more vibrant – alive even – with Northport Harbor as the backdrop. Art in the Park brought 25 vendors – artists of every stripe – as well as musicians to Saturday.

expects more than 1,000 visitors to the day-long event, which wraps up ay 5 p.m.

One of the featured artists is Mia Bechtold, a lifelong Northport resident whose Watercolors by Mia capture the spirit of the area.

"I was here last year and did quite well with my local paintings," Bechtold said. "I do local scenes. The views from everywhere in this area are just wonderful."

Northport Harbor, Main Street and Centerport Beach are favorite topics for Bechtold. She also specializes in upcycled jewelry and custom handbags.

"Our mission is to support artists and give them a venue to display their work," said Dan Paige, executive director of sponsor Northport Arts Coalition. "This is one our biggest events."
