Will a New Traffic Signal System Help?

Larkfield Road project designed to speed traffic by monitoring flow.

This post was written by Pam Robinson.

The Town of Huntington announced Monday that it had completed a project to coordinate signals on Larkfield Road, designed to improve traffic flow. It uses  detection equipment and cameras to live-alert signals to changes needed to accommodate traffic as it builds up or clears an area.

There are plans to expand the project beyond the highly congested road and into other parts of town. The project cost $1.8 million, nearly all of it paid by federal and state funds.

What do you think of the idea? What roads would benefit the most from a similar project?
