Wave of Fun on the Water This Weekend

Events to benefit Huntington Lighthouse Society.

By Pam Robinson

The waters around Huntington will be busy throughout the weekend, as the MusicFest set for Saturday at the Huntington Lighthouse will be bracketed by two other events.

Lloyd Harbor Yacht Club's Friday Night Pursuit Race will  benefit the Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society. Racers are invited in the spinnaker and JAM (Jib and Main) divisions, with a $25 entry fee; the race starts at 7 p.m.

The seventh annual MusicFest gets underway Saturday at 11 a.m, running until 8 p.m.  The town has set a 5 mph speed limit within a half mile of the Huntington Lighthouse during the festival. It has also established a safety zone around the lighthouse to keep vessels clear of the dock and rocks and to protect swimmers in the vicinity of the Lighthouse.

On Monday, Huntington Stand Up Paddle and Solstice Inflatable Paddleboards will demonstrate how to use the boards. The $25 fee will go toward the lighthouse society; the demonstration runs from noon to 3 p.m. See the SUP site for further details.
