We're two days in to the first work and school week of 2011 and there's plenty of opportunity to get involved in the community today. Whether you want to watch high school athletics or just want to know what happened at the meeting last night, keep informed by visiting Northport Patch throughout the day.

  1. Calling all kids: It's time for the 's annual bookmark design contest. See more info here.
  2. Also at the library tonight is Short Story Central, an evening discussion group that focuses on the short story format. See more details about this event here.
  3. The Board of Trustees will hold a meeting tonight beginning at 6 p.m. at which the proposed budget will be discussed. See more info about the budget 
  4. Both the Northport and John Glenn girls basketball teams will play today. Both teams play at home with Northport facing Bay Shore at 6 p.m. and Glenn facing Bayport-Bluepoint at 4:30 p.m. 
  5. The Northport boys bowling team will face Middle Country at Larkfield Lanes at 4:30 p.m. See more info about that here.
