Northport's Grab & Go Kids Planner: March 16-22

Youth Council, camp scouting and the movie Rango — pick and choose from this week's array of events.

Welcome to our Grab & Go Kids Planner, a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities in the Northport area. Each week, we'll give you the info on the best family activities or events for the week. You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Here are this week's picks:


Where/When: ; Thursdays, 4 pm-5 pm.
Why Go: Teens can join the youth council and earn community service credit by organizing projects that help people in need.
Pricing: Free.

OPEN HOUSE FOR MUSICAL THEATER SUMMER CAMP
Where/When: ; Friday, 7 pm-9 pm.
Why Go: Don’t wait until the last minute to choose a summer camp. Check out the . Meet the staff and Learn how your child can benefit from a summer at theater camp.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When:; Sunday, 10 am.
Why Go: Check out the camp campus, meet the Directors and get more information about the upcoming camp season.
Pricing: Free family open house.


Where/When: ; Saturday, 9 am-11:30 am.
Why Go: Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and community members are collecting food donations to help feed the hungry people of Suffolk County. Bring nonperishable food items to John Glenn High School. Donations will be distributed to local food pantries in the Town's of Huntington and Smithtown.
Pricing: Your generous donation.


Where/When: ; Wednesday - Friday, 1 pm and 7:30 pm.
Why Go: a fun, animated movie about an ordinary pet chameleon who confronts an identity crisis. Rated PG.
Pricing: Adults: $8.00 and children: $4.50. Elwood Cinema offers special discounts during the week for shows before 2 pm.
