Volunteer Fair at Northport Library Friday

Volunteers can connect with over 20 non profit agencies in the community.

The Northport-East Northport Library will hold its first ever Volunteer Fair on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Northport branch to connect volunteers with opportunities throughout the community.

At least 20 agencies will be present, including Northport Historical Society, Northport Arts Coalition, Friends of the Farm, Island Harvest, Youth Directions and Alternatives (YDA), and others around Long Island. A full listing of agencies is attached as a PDF.

"We're really excited to be able to get a number of organizations to come to our volunteer fair day," said Library Director James Olney.

Olney added that the fair was created as a bridge between organizations seeking volunteers and people looking to volunteer. "People have approached us asking where to find information on community agencies looking for volunteers and we thought this was a good way--to have a centralized fair.

Olney said that the library hopes this fair will be the first of many to come.
