E. Northport Sex Abuse Arrest

The woman struggled to get away, but police said Juan Buesoramos, 25, pushed her toward the rear of 7-Eleven on Laurel Road. During the struggle he attempted to kiss the woman several times and exposed himself, police said.

Northport Firefighters Save Pup

“This is all I had on,” said soot-covered John Gannon, who was barefoot and only had a pair of cargo shorts. “I had to react.”

After being rescued himself from a house fire on Woodbine Avenue, Gannon ran into a neighbor’s apartment to get the dog. Northport Fire Department ex-Chief Wilbur Scherer found the animal hiding behind a door and pulled the pup to safety. 

The End of an Era for Main Street's Tree Lights

Past Chamber of Commerce President Joe Pidal, Jr. spent $10,000 of his own money in a a final tribute to his beloved Northport by adorning Main Street's trees with sparkling lights. Now, they are being being taken down after eight years.

New Signal System Targets Larkfield Traffic

The $1.8-million project involves 11 town-operated signals on the congested road and depends on detection equipment and cameras to live-alert signals to changes needed to accommodate traffic as it builds up or clears an area. 

Loud Partiers Held Accountable

The Town board voted to require anyone holding a special event to apply for a permit with the town and pay a $25 fee. This fee is nothing new, according to Town Attorney Cindy Mangano. But with a new amendment, the Town will be better able to hold violators accountable. 

Northport Police Report: Drug Deal Arrest; Overreacting

A 19-year-old East Northport man was arrested on Fort Salonga Road and charged with criminal possession of marijuana and criminal sale of marijuana. Other arrests around Northport include possession of hypodermic needle, resisting arrest, and making a scene over nothing.

House Fire Shuts Down Bayview

Seeing smoke billowing from a home next door, Seymour's Boatyard owner and volunteer firefighter Dave Weber, Jr. immediately responded to check for people inside. 

Blown Transformer Causes Power Outage

Northporters experienced a sudden power outage that snarled traffic and melted popsicles at Stop & Shop after a transformer blew on Fort Salonga Road at Reservoir Avenue.

Suffolk Police Arrests: Exposing Oneself; Stealing Chinese Food

A Huntington Station man was arrested on East 2nd street in Huntington Station on June 30 and charged with exposure of a person after he allegedly stood on the sidewalk holding his penis in public view while peeing on a tree.
