Get Out! Northport's Weekend Planner for June 24-26

Poetry, Summer Concert in the Park and Belly Dancing. Pick and choose from this weekend's variety of events.

It’s the weekend and if you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend, Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.


Where/When: ; Friday 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Why Go: To enjoy the the readings of featured poets or share some of your own poetry in the friendly environment at Caffe Portofino.
Pricing: Free.


Where/When: ; Friday at 8 p.m.
Why Go: Bring a blanket, pack a picnic and enjoy an evening with Northport Chorale featuring a variety of music from Broadway to Gospel, Pop to Classical.


Where/When: (in the village parking lot); Saturday, 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Why Go: Get involved in the community. Volunteers are needed to help register donors at the booth for the Hillary D’John Bone Marrow Drive at Northport Farmer's Market.


Where/When: ; Saturday, Workshops: 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and Show: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Why Go:
9:30 – 11:00am – Workshop 1 – Cane with Mystique – Learn cane moves and combinations.
11:00 – 12:30am – Workshop 2 – Fusion Poi with Kanani – Learn the basics of poi dancing.
12:30 – 1:30am – Workshop 3 – Belly Dancing for Beginners with Llandra – Stretching, basic steps and combinations.
2:15 – 4:15pm – Workshop 4 – Learn the Power of the Sword with ISIS  – Learn how to wield two swords at the same time.


Enjoy an evening with the Oasis Belly Dance Showcase with Isis, Kanani, Llandra, Mystique, the Desert Wind Dancers, with special guest JeniViva and the Mystic HipsTribe. There will also be refreshments and shopping.


Where/When: ; Sunday, Reception: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit is open daily, 1 p.m. to close.
Why Go: Enjoy great wine, food and the wonderful photography by Jennifer Lau of the Saratoga Race Track, capturing moments in the back stretch, in the stables and on the track.
