Flood Watch Issued For Northport

Help your neighbors by sending local flooding pictures to Patch.

After a weekend of warm summer sun that allowed the Northport area to dry out from Friday’s soaking rains brought by the remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the area through Tuesday morning.

According to a weather service advisory, a warm front moving through the area will bring moderate to heavy rains from Monday afternoon through Monday night. Rainfall totals could be a much as two inches.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts, the National Weather Service said. Residents living in flood-prone areas should be prepared to take action if flooding develops.
