Elwood Road Closing Snarls Northport Traffic

The one-mile stretch will be closed for road paving until approximately 5 p.m.

It's a tough day to drive in Northport.

A one-mile stretch of Elwood Road between 25A and 10th Avenue was closed for road paving early Monday morning and will remain closed until approximately 5 p.m., according to a Suffolk Public Works representative.

Traffic is being diverted from both ends, with a coordinator posted at 25A.

Regular, but directed, traffic flow will resume on Tuesday as crews paint road lines. No other road paving projects on Elwood Road are planned for the rest of the year, according to the representative.

The resulting detour has also snarled traffic on Larkfield Road.
