The Cow Harbor Warriors held a 4-mile Warrior Training Run and memorial service Saturday, in which about runners participated.
At the end of the run, Wounded Warriors Captain James Van Thatch and U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel James S. Taylor presented a wreath dedicated to those who lost their lives on 9/11, fallen troops and Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom wounded warriors.
Last year’s 4-Mile Warrior Run, to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, drew more than 650 people. The group was not allowed to hold as big of an event this year, however a smaller version of the event was made possible to raise awreness of Wounded Warriors. The Warrior Run is working on getting a permit from Suffolk County Veterans agency so it can hold more events to benefit wounded veterans.
The warrior run also serves as training for the Cow Harbor 10K race.
