Boy Scouts Help Stamp Out Hunger

Troop 5 in East Northport collected food for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

Boy Scouts of America Troop 5 collected 478 pounds of food for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which serves needy Long Islanders.

The Troop 5 food drive was part of a national Scouting for Food program, which the Suffolk County Council of the Boy Scouts of America and individual troops participate in each March.

In addition to the annual Scouting for Food drive, Troop 5 supports St. Vincent de Paul each year by contributing food items for Easter and Thanksgiving baskets.

Troop 5 meets weekly at Trinity Regional School in East Northport. For more information about the troop, visitwww.troop5enpt.org.
