Longtime Huntington Resident & Emeritus Chairman Daniel Gale Sotheby's

D. Kent Gale, lifelong resident of Huntington, NY on March 5, 2014.  Born December 13, 1917. Chairman, Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, founded in 1922 by his father, Daniel Gale. Widely recognized and respected for ironclad values, integrity and ingenuity.  For all his business success, he counted his loving family as his greatest accomplishment.   Married 70 years to Jean Wallice (July 27, 1943).

At Huntington High School played Varsity football, basketball, track, baseball.  A superb bridge player who played with skill and enthusiasm into his 90s.   Lifetime member, Rotary International, maintained perfect attendance while professionally active.  Member, Huntington Country Club.

WWII veteran, stationed at Schofield Barracks (Oahu) during Pearl Harbor attack.  Completed “90 Day Wonder” officer training.  Earned Captain, served in Panama.  In 1955 and 1956 named top sales representative, North America, Travelers Insurance.

Assumed leadership of Daniel Gale Agency from his father in the mid-1950s, was early leader in the Long Island Board of Realtors and Multiple Listing Service of Long Island. In 1976, Daniel Gale became affiliated with Sotheby’s.  Today Daniel Gale Sotheby’s is a $2.5 billion dollar organization with nearly 600 sales associates/22 sales offices spanning Long Island.  It consistently leads the nation in achieving one of the highest average sales prices in the country.

Cherished husband of Jean (nee Wallice).  Devoted father of Danny Gale, Stanley C. Gale and Mary Stokkers, grandfather to Kelly Stokkers, Aly Stokkers McKee, Kyle Stokkers, Stanley Gale Jr., Katherine Gale, Jaclyn Gale; great grandfather to Brinley McKee.

Visitation and Service, Saturday, March 8, 2014, Old First Presbyterian Church, 125 Main St, Huntington, NY.  Visitation, 9am - 11am. Service, 1pm.  Private burial.
