April 5, 2014 18th Annual Friends of the Farm Barn Dance

It’s that time of the year when friends will gather Saturday, April 6th at St. Philip Neri Parish Center at 7:00 pm and enjoy an evening of fun, dancing, great food, raffles and door prizes, while helping the residents of the Lewis Oliver Farm stay safe, happy and healthy.

Residents at the Farm include Annabelle the cow; several goats including Adeleide, Big, Blaze, Heidi, Oreo, Swan; resident sheep Sheila, Stewie and friends; alpacas Ezra and Onyx; together with lots of geese, chickens, bunnies, cats, peacocks and ducks. There are a lot of hungry mouths to feed and fundraisers such as this dance help do just that.

Throughout its one hundred year plus history, the Lewis Oliver Farm has been a focal point of the Northport Community. History abounds at this Farm and thanks to its volunteer “Friends”, residents from near and far can still enjoy feeding the animals and sharing in this precious Long Island history.

Now for the eighteenth year, the Friends of the Farm Barn Dance will highlight some of the best country sounds and foot stompin’ music around. Jeff Mucciolo and the Moonshine Band with special guest singer (and farm volunteer) Valerie Sauer plus John Sherman and the Ghost Riders with side-kick Mary will keep everyone entertained the entire evening. Take a few chances on wonderful raffle prizes and place your silent auction bid for prizes such as one of a kind art pieces and tickets to upcoming events.

This year’s menu includes delicacies from local restaurants including Maroni’s of Northport, Aunt Chilada’s, Jimmy’s Pizza, Three Amigo’s, Greenlawn Deli, Batata Cafe and Copenhagen Bakery. Beer, wine, coffee and dessert are included in the ticket price of $50.00 each ($55.00 at the door). To further enjoy your beverage of choice, a complimentary etched wine glass or beer mug will be distributed to use that evening and bring home as a keepsake of the Dance. To add to your collection, additional glasses will be available for purchase.

As stated above, this is the main fundraising event hosted by Friends of the Farm. They are a not-for-profit volunteer group in which 100% of donations and proceeds go towards the feeding and care of the animals and preserving the Farm. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Dust off your boots, reshape that cowboy hat, call some friends and reserve a table for the dance. “Come graze with us, do some hoof stompin’ and have some fun!” Raffle prizes and cash donations gratefully accepted.
