Standout basketball player Stephanie Leon has signed her National Letter of Intent to play for the University of Delaware Blue Hens.
Leon, a 6-foot, 4-inch post player, is rated the No. 31 best post player in the nation, according to HoopGurlz.com.
After leading her team to a 17-3 overall record and averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds a game under Coach Rick Castellano, Leon was named first-team League II.
She was instrumental in leading her squad to the third round of the New York State Tournament, and was named All-Suffolk Country for her efforts.
Outside of high school ball, Leon has also been a member of the notable AAU teams Exodus Elite and Basketball Results. An honor student, Leon carries a 3.96 grade point average.
Delaware is currently ranked 15th in CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll.
“We are thrilled to have Stephanie join our program,” said Coach Teena Martin of her newest Blue Hen. “We have followed her for two seasons. She runs the floor and has great hands. Stephanie has a physical presence in the post that will be of immediate value.”
She reportedly selected Delaware over several other high-caliber schools, including Colonial Athletic Association rival James Madison, as well as Richmond, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Marist.
