Castellano Named 'Coach of the Year' by WBCA

was recently named the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association's Russell Athletic/WBCA National High School Coach of the Year.

With his guidance, the Northport girls have won 10 Suffolk Class A and AA titles, including dynastic runs from 1989-94 and 2004-06.

The Tigers won Long Island championships in 86, 91, 92, 94 and 2004. 

Castellano was a math teacher at before retiring last year.  

The RUSSELL ATHLETIC/WBCA National Coach of the Year is presented annually to one coach in each of the collegiate divisions or, less commonly, to a high school coach.
