Northport Police Report: She Had to Get to the Drug Store

Incidents and arrests, Aug. 8-16

The following incidents and arrests were reported by the Northport Police between Aug. 8 and 16.

A man was followed after he cut someone off while pulling out of the Walgreens on Fort Salonga Road Aug. 13. At a nearby shopping center, the other driver got out of his car, went over to the complainant's, cursed at him and grabbed his shirt. When the complainant told the other driver that he was recording him, he ran back to his car and took off.

A Northport woman, 66, was issued a ticket in lieu of arrest for leaving the scene of an accident on Aug. 9. When explaining to police why she did not call police after hitting a parked car, she said that she had to get to the drug store before it closes. 

Someone cut a hole in the vinyl lining of an Oak Street woman's in-ground pool Aug. 14, causing half of the water to drain out.

An East Northport man, 54, was issued an open container ticket after police founding him sitting in the passenger seat of a parked car with an open can of Natural Ice beer on Aug. 15.

A sink hole was reported on Ocean Avenue on Aug. 10. Police placed traffic cones and the Highway Department was notified.

A man suffered a minor facial injury after a car crashed into the front window of the store he was working in on Main Street Aug. 10.

A Bayview Avenue man was verbally accosted by his neighbor after he and his family attempted to launch their kayaks Aug. 12. The man accused them of trespassing and shouted profanity. The two later agreed to resolve the dispute without police action.

A woman left a bad date at Whales Tale while he was in the bathroom. She called the police after he showed up walking around outside her house several minutes later.
