First Day of School
Today is the first day of school in the Northport-East Northport School District. Schools are then closed Thursday and Friday for Rosh Hashana. Good luck on your first day in the 2013-14 school year, students!

Rosh Hashana Begins
Beginning Wednesday night, Jewish residents around Northport will celebrate the Rosh Hashana, the celebration of the new year, according to the Hebrew calendar. Sundown marks the start of year 5774.

East Northport Festival Coming Up

The East Northport Chamber of Commerce’s annual Festival will take place Sept. 6 through Sept. 8. Residents will get to enjoy magic shows, sidewalk sales, exhibits, craft vendors, great food, petting zoo, bicycle stunt shows, amusement rides and games, live entertainment, street performers and more. To purchase tickets online, visit http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/434614.

Village Readies for Cow Harbor Day

Northport Village is prepping for Cow Harbor Day, which will take place Sept. 21. Village trustees approved parking restrictions for the Cow Harbor Race and parade during a board meeting Tuesday night. If you would like to volunteer, either on Race day or the few days before, please send your request to: raceinfo@cowharborrace.com.
