Northport Police Report: Loud Rooster, Thrown Out of the Bar

The following was taken from the Northport Police crime blotter. An arrest does not indicate a conviction as all persons are presumed innocent until, and if, proven guilty in a court of law.

• Leon Parks, 22, of Coram was arrested on March 16 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, unreasonable rate of speed, operation of a motor vehicle without a license, and passing a red traffic light signal. Parks was allegedly observed driving southbound on Reservoir Avenue at a high rate of speed and passed through a steady red light at Fort Salonga Road. He was pulled over in front of 41 Elwood Road. Parks was reportedly unable to provide a photo driver's license, and upon further investigation of the pedigree provided, it was determined to be revoked one time on September 6, 2012 for three speeding violations or misdemeanors in 18 months. The defendant was arrested at the scene and transported to headquarters to determine his identity using the DMV photo system.

• A police officer assisted Suffolk County Police Department with an overturned vehicle with a missing driver on March 14 on Fort Salonga Road.

• Responded to Burt Avenue to investigate the report of an unknown person who left a rooster on their property causing a disturbance with the other animals on March 14.

• Someone was assaulted in the parking lot of Napper Tandy's on March 14.

• Police responded to the above location to investigate an anonymous report of a youth using profanity while riding his bicycle down Main Street on March 16. The undersigned checked the area and said youth was gone upon arrival.

• Police responded to Fort Salonga Road on March 17 regarding a report of a light haze within the caller's business. Upon arrival, the undersigned observed that a candle was left burning overnight which ignited a wall mirror. Apparently the fire went out on its own during the night. Northport Fire Department responded to confirm the fire was extinguished.

• Police responded to Porpoise Court on March 17 regarding a possible death investigation. Upon arrival, it was determined that the death appeared to be a natural one.

• Police responded to Lindberg Court on march 17 at the request of the caller for a report of a female that was assaulted while walking home. Upon interview, it was determined that the woman was patronizing Napper Tandy's Pub and became too intoxicated to drive home. While walking to a residence, she fell causing an abrasion to her face and knees. The police offered medical assistance, but she refused.

• A police officer located an injured seagull on Woodbine Avenue on March 18. Contact was made with Andrea from Wildlife Rescue who responded and took possession of said animal.

• Police responded to Main Street to a report of an unwanted subject at a business on March 18. Upon arrival, the complainant reports that she told the man to leave the establishment after he became loud and used vulgar language at the bar. The above complainant states when she told him to leave he became irate and aggressive in manner stated, "I'm not (expletive) leaving, call the (expletive) police." She said when she called the police he left on his own without further incident. The police officer interviewed the man and advised him that he is no longer allowed in the establishment. The owner of the establishment signed a trespass affidavit.

• Police responded to Fifth Avenue on March 19 for the report of an injured raccoon. Upon arrival, the undersigned located the injured animal wedged between the curb and a parked vehicle. It was put down and properly disposed of.
