No Injuries in East Northport House Fire
Five fire departments battle early afternoon blaze Tuesday.
A homeowner present at the time was uninjured in an early afternoon fire on 7th Ave. West off Elwood Road Tuesday, said East Northport Fire Department Chief Michael Tarantino.
The fire may have begun in an extension at the back of the house then spread up the wall and through the attic, resulting in a "significant" blaze that took five fire departments a half hour to extinguish, said Tarantino.
Commack, Greenlawn, Centerport and Northport Fire Departments assisted the East Northport Fire Department in putting out the blaze.

7th Avenue West does not intersect with Pulaski. It is not 'off' Pulaski Road. It may, however, be 'off' Elwood.

Ms. Bush, I would like to make a correction. I'm the son of the owner of this house, under one of the photos you have a caption that says the fire started in a back bedroom. It actually started by the den, which you can see as the extension at the back of the house. The damage did end up spreading to one of the spare bedrooms towards the back of the house, but it did not start there, fyi.

No problem, Ms. Bush. Though seeing those images has brought up a lot of emotions. I've spent my entire life growing up in that house, and I was hoping to come back to it during my spring break in two weeks. But I guess the most I can be happy for is that my Mom is healthy and safe.

I'm sure it was traumatic to go through that. Thank God your family is safe!

Yes, thank God. If the fire had started a couple of hours earlier it might have caught my Mom while she was asleep. Thankfully it didnt. I just wish I could be home to help sort through this whole mess. Not being there is the hardest part.

My name is Greg Kapitan and I grew up in that house. My mom and dad where the first owners and sold it in 1980 when we moved to fla. I am glad that everyone is ok....

Just like any house fire or major event.....ENFD has to mutual aid everyone because it doesnt have the right amount of resources. Thank god everyone was fine though.
