Halloween Event Guide: Zombie Crawls and Pooch Parades

Looking to maximize that Halloween costume? Check out the many ways to show it off at spooky events in and around Northport this weekend--from discounts for the living dead to a costume parade for you your pooch, hayrides, contests, and more!

 

Here are some ways to show off that awesome Halloween costume. SATURDAY

Long Island's 1st Annual Zombie Crawl in East Northport, ALL DAY

The living dead (those dressed in zombie costumes) will receive discounts from:Rockabilly Barber, Karps Hardware and Home Brew, Bike Depot, Crossroads Cafe, Gold's Gym, Big Bear Pizza, and The Lark Pub. FREE

Fall Family Festival, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Help Northport High School Students raise money for the anti-poverty organization Students for 60,000 at a fun family festival at Lewis Oliver Farm with face painting, games, prizes, and more. $5

SUNDAY

Halloween Hayride and Petting Zoo, 1 to 4 p.m.

Enjoy an old-fashioned hay ride and cute farm animals at the Northport Village Park. Sponsored by the Northport Chamber of Commerce.

Paws for a Cause, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Put your pooch on parade to raise money for the Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice of Suffolk. Registration for the parade and costume contest begins at 9:30 a.m. at 505 Main Street. The costume contest begins at 10:30 a.m. and the parade to Village Park begins at 11 a.m. For more information, call Barbara Sorelle at 631-930-9310. $25 for day-of registration.

Fall Family Festival, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Get your pet's picture taken by renowned photographer Lens Marks at Pet Port's photo benefit for Little Shelter in Huntington. $25 for photo session and two prints. Appointments suggested.

MONDAY

Halloween Safe Zone, 1 to 4 p.m.

Safe trick or treating at participating businesses in downtown Northport. Sponsored by the Northport Chamber of Commerce.

James H. Boyd Intermediate Halloween Parade, 8:30 a.m.

Harley Avenue Elementary Halloween Parade, 10:15 a.m.

Ocean Avenue and Pulaski Road Elementary School Parades, 1:15 p.m.

Fifth Avenue, Bellerose, and Norwood Elementary School Parades, 1:45 p.m.

Nina's Pizza Halloween Costume Contest, ALL DAY

Post a picture of your Halloween costume on Nina's Facebook wall by midnight on Oct. 31 (Halloween Night). The best costume will receive a dinner for two with a bottle of wine.

Town of Huntington 8th Annual Children's Costume Contest and Halloween Parade, 4 p.m.

Meet in front of the Huntington Post Office at 55 Gerard Street at 4 p.m., the parade will start at 4:15 p.m.
