A rundown of family friendly events for the weekend of Jan. 20-22.

 

It’s Friday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-with-work-I'm-outta-here time. Check out our picks for the activities to try this weekend.

FRIDAY EVENTS

Free Movie: The East Northport branch of the library will be showing "Moneyball," about an Oakland A’s general manager attempts to select players by using computer analysis, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. FREE

Wrestling: Lindenhurst @ Northport, 6 p.m.

Girls Basketball: Northport @ West Islip, 6:15 p.m.

World Music Concert: The Northport Arts Coalition, in cooperation with the Library, is pleased to present guitarist Francisco Roldán and percussionist Danny Mallon in a transcontinental musical tour at the Northport Branch of the library at 7 p.m., FREE

Winter Concert: The Northport Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of
Richard Hyman, will present a free concert at 8 p.m. at the East Northport Middle School, featuring the Symphony No. 1 in C by Georges Bizet and works by Mozart and Mendelssohn.

Beatles Cover Band: Enjoy a fun night of Beatles classics at Madison's Grille and Martini Bar with "The Something Band" starting at 10:30 p.m. FREE

SATURDAY EVENTS

Wrestling: Northport @ Tournament, 9 a.m.

Boys Basketball: West Islip @ Northport, 12 p.m.

Country Dance Party: The Knights of Columbus will host a “swingin’ hoedown” featuring Long Island’s own “County Line Band” and country-western dance instructor Carol Ruggerio to help all those city slickers learn the popular line dances and the Texas two-step at St. Anthony’s Trinity Regional School Hall at 7 p.m. $30 includes dancing, dinner, dessert, beer, wine & soda. Tickets must be bought in advance.

Parents Night Out: The Northport Little League presents an evening for parents with food from Maroni's and entertainment by "Dueling Pianos" at the Northport American Legion at 7 p.m. $50, beer/wine/soda and water included.

Clean Comedy: Famous Clean Comedian Phil DiTommaso stops in at Samantha's "Li'l Bit of Heaven" Ministries  for a one man show at 8 p.m., $15

SUNDAY EVENTS

Farmers Market: The Northport Winter Farmers Market will be held inside St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Main Street from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Check out our article for more details on what they offer.

Photography Reception: Photographer John Ellsworth will talk about his photography of local waters at the Northport Tasting Room and Wine Cellar at 2 p.m. Fine wines and snacks will be available as well as live music by Kindred Heart (Sandy and Steve Edwards). FREE
