Fundraiser to Help Toy Drive for Children

You have to eat, right? Shouldn’t every little boy and girl get new toys during the holidays? Do you like rock ‘n roll? Well, if you answered yes to those three questions, hold onto your hat and get ready to rock the night away with Moonjumpers Charitable Foundation at Nov. 17.

Moonjumpers is a new non-profit group created by community residents. The organization will host an evening of music at Napper Tandy’s to raise money to fund the purchase of holiday toys and gifts for underprivileged children in the Huntington community.

Peter Mazzeo & The Hit Squad headlines the talented group of performers expected at the event. Renowned singer and songwriter Danny Kean will be there, too, along with a litany of guest musicians, some of whom have played or are still playing with the world’s legendary rock groups.

Mazzeo has a special interest in the success of the event since he serves at Moonjumpers’ president. “A group of us got together and decided to create an organization from scratch that is dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of folks in need in the community,” he said.

The event at Napper Tandy’s will run from 7:30-10:30 p.m.

Tickets, which will be available at the door for $40, include an all-you-can-eat dinner buffet along with unlimited beer, wine and soda. Dancing is definitely encouraged. Visit www.moonjumpers.org for more information.

Proceeds from the evening will go to the holiday gift giving project sponsored by Family Service League and Tri-CYA. The joint annual initiative provides holiday toys to thousands of youngsters from struggling families in the community.

“While we live in a wealthy community, there are many folks that are in real need,” Mazzeo said. “Moonjumpers is really proud to partner with the Family Service League and Tri-CYA to brighten the lives of children during a special time of the year. We want to give something back.”

The new foundation is a registered New York State non-profit organization. Its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status is pending with the Internal Revenue Service.

Moonjumpers intends to support initiatives designed to improve the quality of life of children and families that require community support along with helping injured war veterans and others in need.

A large crowd is expected at the Nov. 17 event and with the line-up of musicians that awaits the group it is sure to be an almost too-good-to-be-true night for rock ‘n roll lovers.

“Moonjumpers wants its fundraising events to be fun and that’s exactly what everyone will experience at Napper Tandy’s, while at the same time helping to light up the lives of kids,” Mazzeo said.
