We're Looking For Your Early Spring Freak Out Photos
Has mother nature gone haywire? Show us your photo proof from around Northport.
Mother nature seems to have gone out of her gourd this winter, with springlike temps up to 22 degrees above average throughout most of the country and a high of 57 in Northport.
The polar jet stream that brought snowstorm after snowstorm in 2011 has stopped right at the Canadian border this year, but inches ever closer as scientists predict that winter hasn't been called off-- it's only been postponed.
Plants and animals don't seem to have gotten the memo, however, as the mild temperatures have fooled flowers into premature blooms and some flocks of migratory birds have been seen returning too soon or not going south at all. Unfortunately, scientists say that those pretty winter buds we see now mean that we shouldn't look forward to a big show come real spring since...well...spring has already sprung.
What signs of early spring freakout fever have you seen in Northport? Do you have crocuses blooming in your backyard? Hear frogs croaking in the pond? See people in shorts sipping iced lattes in the park? Upload your pics to the gallery (don't forget to add a caption) and show us proof that nature has lost her mind!
Tell us in the comments if you've given this madness a name that you think might catch on. Hey, 2010 had "snowmageddon," so why not give it your best shot?
