DWI Arrest Yields Arson Charge

Huntington Station man implicated in East Northport fire after Tuesday arrest.

Huntington Station resident Aaron Tarkin was charged with arson Wednesday related to a Feb. 13 house fire in East Northport, according to the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad.

It comes just one day after Tarkin, 25, was charged with felony DWI and child endangerment charges in Huntington Station.

Suffolk County Police arrested Tarkin on Tuesday after he allegedly drove drunk with his friend's two sons, ages 5 and 8, on a lunch outing. He was charged with felony DWI, first degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, operation of a motor vehicle without an interlock device, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle.

Tarkin was also charged with second degree arson Wednesday after an unrelated investigation by Suffolk County Police Arson Squad detectives determined he may have started a fire at 725 Glenridge Lane in East Northport on Feb. 13 at 11:41 p.m.

Tarkin is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Feb. 23.

One arrest leads to another arrest what good news that they got him. Also glad they got him before anything happened to the children while he was driving drunk. Hats off the the police department, one less crazy person off the streets.

Before you all rant and rave about how he is a loser or how he deserves this, you should know that this is not like him.

I have personally known him since 3rd grade and he has always been nothing but a great, warm hearted, and loving guy. Aaron was going through stuff lately and simply snapped. We can all just thank god that nobody was hurt or killed, and lessons will be learned.

Consider someone elses life before you slander it.

The way he considered potential lives inside the house set on fire? Also the way he considered the lives of the 5 and 8 year old boys he was in the car with when he was driving drunk (and in possesion of illegal drugs). And lastly, the way he considered the lives of other drivers on the road when he decided to drive drunk at 1pm on a Tuesday?
He should have considered the lives of everyone mentioned above before he took the actions he took.
